Movie Review: Bottle Rocket

The inspiration to add this movie to my Netflix queue came after a conversation with my sister about Wes Anderson...and that conversation came from our discussion of The Fanstastic Mr. Fox (which is awesome, and you can find Dahl-related quote jewelry in my Etsy shop #shamelessplug).

First off, some ratings. I haven't come up with a good rating system yet. So we'll just go with this for now:

Rating: R-for the language. This would have been more enjoyable had it been censored on network TV.
Sexual content: Some, not a lot, but it wasn't necessary, and I don't condone pre-marital sex, so a big thumbs down for that.
Violence/Gore: eh...not really
Crude language/Profanity: Way too much. People, use your words!
Disrespecting God: Way too much. Why can't Hollywood clean it up?
Alcohol, tobacco and drugs: smoking, some alcohol, I don't remember any elicit drug use
Significant other rating: My dear Jon was watching from the computer while working, and I don't think I heard him laugh out loud once.

Back to your regularly scheduled review...

I love dry humor. This was full of it, and well done. I *love* Owen Wilson, so I was giggling most of the way through.  There were some excessively dull parts, and the timing could have been shored up a little. It was only 91 minutes, but felt longer (that could have something to do with my sick kid who kept waking up so I had to hit pause a lot).

If you like Owen Wilson or Wes Anderson you'll like this movie. If you don't like either, don't waste your time. I probably wouldn't choose to watch it again or buy it.
